Making yourself an indispensable source of information can establish your identity as an authority marketer and the more helpful and valuable your information is the greater the chance those customers will purchase from you. You must be able to identify the needs and frustrations that your potential clients face. Then you should develop an attractive and personal business identity. This is the concept of attraction marketing - develop ongoing relationships with clients and moving them along the buying path in your communications to greatly increase profits on autopilot. These clients will also bring in more business for you via referrals.

I had a sales manager once that compared prospecting to making sausage.

I was constantly running into the same problem. One thing that helped me was actually writing out everything that I needed to do for my business and blocking it out on a schedule.

I used to commit to project schedules based on working full days. Now I schedule based on working 4 days a week - meaning my projects take longer - so I can not only do some marketing but have time for sales calls, casual client lunches, etc. I spread that "marketing day" over the entire week, rather than doing it all at once. I have a daily marketing plan that is pretty easy to get done in a few hours.

And a belated "Happy Easter" to you too, Michael! The video is great and very relevant, as the cyclical nature of feast and famine is very stressful, and one has to keep at the marketing, no matter what, in order to ensure a steady flow of work.

It is a challenge trying to flatten your performance so you're consistently high and can avoid those down periods. Your example is great, it's always important to have projects in the works or else you're going to reach dry spots.
