You should also consider the strata of your product before jumping into video promotion because it can make or break your product.

Definitely with Ritergal on this one - video can be slower to load and with my rapidly running mind, much slower to follow, easier to be distracted from or to lose a point or a word that made a difference, and I am much more likely to try to multi-task or speed thru it when the speaker is not providing data that is useful to me (e.g., when selling the idea of what is to come in the video). And, my writer husband doesn't appreciate the videos when he's writing on his computer and I'm just messing around.

I'm much more interested in what a person has to say than how he/she looks when saying it, tho I will admit that some speakers are much more entertaining than others and videos of them do keep my attention - Perry Belcher (see YouTube for examples) comes to mind as being entertaining. He also uses a board behind him to draw pictures, so video is probably a necessary media.

Bottom line: Let the information drive the media, or provide it in several and allow readers/viewers to choose which form to view it in.

The first step that you need to take when it comes to developing the best social media strategy is identifying those social media outlets that will be most beneficial to you or your business.

Video is good, but please don't abandon text. I can read way faster than I can watch video and reading doesn't wake up anyone in the next room. Audio is downloable to my Zen.

Video is good, but it's choice #3 for ordinary info transmission. I'll only watch if it promises something unique that can't be understood as well any other way.

Hi Michael,

I just got the Kodak Zi6 Pocket HD Video Camera. The main reason I got this camera was because of the easy ability to upload to YouTube (with included software) as well as the fact it came with rechargeable batteries and a recharger. Don't have to deal with battery issues that way.

You can record in HD60: 16:9@ 60 FPS (for slow motion playback) HD:16:9@30 FPS (smaller files for easier sharing) and VGA (Web ready) as well as still pictures.

I bought the additional 8 gig SD card for the availability to record for hours. The price was under $300 at Walmart.

With a mini tripod that came with it, I'm good to go for my site(s)!

I've long been a fan of organizing information by "type" and "topic." I think the right "types" have a ton of value.

I think videos are great for both "what is" and "how to."

How do you plan to leverage video going forward?
