How to increase your leads by 86%. Amazing study!

By Michael Stelzner

Are you responsible for generating leads for your business?

If so, you might be able to relate to this new finding:

The biggest challenges for marketers is filling the pipeline with leads, according to MarketingSherpa’s new Business Technology Benchmarking Guide.

To address this problem head on, Marketing Experiments has put together a VERY interesting video.

In the video, Dr. Flint McGlaughlin discusses an innovative way to improve the number of leads that enter the pipeline.

The key to the whole thing is the landing page.

Through rigorous testing, Marketing Experiments determined that MANY marketing folks are doing it all wrong.

He throws conventional wisdom on its head with his findings.

  • Great entry!!
  • I encountered some serious 'friction' when starting to watch this video as it does not work in my browser of choice, Firefox 3.0.4. So I had to open it in Internet Exploder.. Despite this small setback I did enjoy the video :)
  • C = 4m + 3V + 2(i-f) - 2a

Wow so mathematical. I love it. I am more of a technical person than a marketing person and this is one of the best presentasions I have seen to increase conversions.
  • Definitely good ideas to think about. It seems landing page optimization is like the 30-sec pitch. The landing page has a short amount of time to prove they are what the viewer needs. Sounds like a foundational marketing task.
  • A good video, indeed. But I already know one way to increase your leads, and that is by simple landing page optimization. If you show the customer what they want when they were looking for it, you almost always have an instant sale.
  • An interesting video, indeed. Thanks for sharing the link with us.
  • Thanks for the video! It is really worth watching!
  • Landing page optimisation is a key component to conversion optimisation. With clients they are looking for a website to present their corporate brand, when in actual fact there are considerably mroe factors that need to be taken into consideration, not always logical, that will bring better results. The hardest part of the process is actually convincing the clients to give us leeway to experiment with their websites.
  • Food for thought indeed! Landing pages have to be spot-on for optimal conversion, that can not be disputed. Dr McGlauglin puts forward some strong points, allied to solid research.

Thanks for the thought-provking post, Michael. Really enjoy the pearls of wisdom you so freely share with us.
