Struggling With Time? 5 Tips…
By Michael StelznerWhere has it gone? I can’t seem to find time!
Is the biggest battle of your day hunkering down and writing?
I know I face daily struggles with my time. It eludes me at every turn.
In that vain, I am happy to report some simple tips that will help you (and that work for me!).
My recent post, Five Tips for Finding Writing Time over at Copyblogger.com has had some huge response.
Here is an excerpt:
#1 – Identify Your Productivity Zone
Figure out when you are most able to write. For me, it’s between 9am and 11am. You know you’re in the zone when you can crank out writing. When in the zone, I can easily write a few well-written pages of copy. When I’m out of the zone, I’m lucky to write a single paragraph all day. Find the zone and you’re on your way to more productive writing.
#2 – When in the Zone, ONLY Write
If you’re like me, you would rather respond to email or make phone calls when in the zone. Get in the habit of only writing when in your zone. I tell my clients that I write in the morning and take calls in the afternoon. They know not to call when I’m writing. Controlling the zone is a key to success.

I think (not that I’m good at it) that if you are having trouble making yourself write, what you need to do is just schedule your writing time. And then do only writing in that time. Or if you aren’t writing, just sit and stare at the screen — if that’s the discipline it takes you to do it.

Oh yeah?
Well try juggling a freelance copywriting career with another full-time job… AND 3 young children at home.
Try finding some time then!
Anybody find a cure for sleep yet?

Hello… to leverage time, more and more I have been outsourcing aspects of the writing to other writers. Any advice out there regarding when/how to use “sub-contractors” (e.g. just for editing …OR actually for development of initial drafts???)

Great article. I’m always looking for that cure for sleep, too.
