Weekend Fun: Cell Phone Throwing Contest

September 1st, 2007, by Michael Stelzner

Yes, this is no joke. There is actually a worldwide cell phone throwing competition.

MSNBC reported:

Event organizer Christine Lund said the contest reflected people’s love-hate relationship with the mobile phone.

“This contest speaks to people the world over as are a blessing and a curse … phones have become a part of the modern man, and sometimes many of us would like to remove that part.”

Have you always wanted to toss your phone?

I can understand leaving your phone at home for a day, but this seems a little extreme!

I recently experienced a feeling of sympathy for this event when my car broke down in a dead area for cell phones!

I am so happy to see that others share my frustration with cell phones.

They’re great, but also incredibly poorly designed. A miracle of technology that reflects no design or ergonomic savvy. Motorola V551.

To thick to comfortably fit in my pocket, ring tones turn on and off when I walk, too slippery to hold.

Reach for it, and inadvertantly hang up. Heavy, but the weight of a dangling headset cord can pull it off my desk.

    Who designs these things?
