So what’s with the New York Times? It appears in each of their TV commercials, website, and now this? Featuring a less controversial newspaper like USA Today would have made more marketing sense.
Doesn’t Apple know that the NYT represents “red-meat” to anyone right of center? It’s like waving a red flag (pun intended) in front of a bull.
I guess Apple hopes the rest of the world thinks like San Francisco or simply doesn’t care.

I found this mildly entertaining, but I think I would have preferred a straightforward review. The author/video maker seems more intent on trying to hold our attention then focusing on the iPhone persay. The narrator trying to get the iPhone out of his pocket at a party to impress girls is not that clever or funny to me and I could do without it. If the video had been shorter, they wouldn’t have to entertain so much. I am thinking about buying an iPhone but not until the next version since there are always bugs to work out, and this review did not sway my decision on that. I am impressed, however, with the functionality, although the problems with the AT&T connections are getting some bad press and would be worrisome, I think, for Apple. My advice to The New York Times: give us a straight one-minute review and skip the 5-minute expose. We are busy people!

Wow, that was more like a full paid review by the New York Times. He goes way in depth with iPhone review after the initial parodies [and subsequent ending parody as well].
When the camera’s were well focused on the product, there was nothing negative said about the iPhone. Only when the camera is away from the product, he mentions only ATT services, limited battery life, and non-expansion slots.

I have noticed that this guy does a number of high-tech parodies. They certainly have high production value. I found this on YouTube. My guess is the New York times is using these types of reviews to grab younger, hipper viewers (notice I said viewers, not readers).
