The Speed of This Blog, Feedback Please

By Michael Stelzner

Ok folks, I need your help!

I have noticed my blog has been dirt slow lately. Am I alone: Have you noticed this as well?

Do you get errors coming up on the screen (this is the 2nd time I tried to post this message).

HELP: I think I need to switch hosting companies for my blog. Does anyone have any suggestions (fellow bloggers, please speak up).

Thanks!

  • Thanks Witney, yes things are much speedier now.
  • Very fast loading this morning, Mike! Your quick changeover was well worth the effort.
  • seems ok to me..

    Hi Mike,

Thought I'd try a post with your new host. I've never had any issues with 1st load, but it's been a while since I've posted.

Absolutely enjoy your blog. Keep it up!

    Happy 4th,

    Terri
  • OK - I have switched hosting companies. PLEASE let me know if problems persist. I call already tell things are working better :) - Mike
  • Hey Folks;

I hope to have this problem resolved within 24 hours.

I plan on moving hosting sites.

    Thanks for hanging in there!!

  • There were no errors, while, yes, it seems a bit slower.

I am using Midphase hosting. While their support desk is great, my site was down in average once per month.
  • It's slow on first load, and -- as has happened in the past -- I got an internal server error the first time I tried to comment. Maybe it *is* time to look for a new host. Nothing like errors to kill comments...

I'm using TotalChoice hosting (reseller account) with no problems.

    Good luck!
  • First loads have been kinda slow. Nothing agonizing, but certainly noticeable. I'm using Total Choice Hosting (have a reseller account) and have been pleased.

    Good luck!
  • I have noticed a certain amount of slowness the *first* time I visit your blog on a given day. If I access it later in the day, and haven't cleared out my IE history, your blog comes up quickly. Given the times of day that I visit, I've been chalking it up to peak traffic times.

I use AT&T/Yahoo Web hosting for two sites (one of which includes a blog), and have had very good luck with them with almost no issues.

I think dirt is a bit quicker, actually.

I'd contact your hosting company and ask them to look into it... could be fixed with something as simple and rebooting the server.

If you do switch, I'm a loyal fan of Dreamhost. I've also heard great things about MediaTemple.
