6 Tips When Using Executive Summaries

December 15th, 2006, by Michael Stelzner

If you must use an executive summary or an abstract, my pal Jonathan Kantor over at the White Paper Pundit has the following to say:

Executive and concluding summaries have become valuable white paper assets given the business realities that most executives have a limited amount of time to read business communications.

The executive summary should not be:

  • Cumbersome
  • Lengthy
  • Hard to understand

It should be:

  • Quick
  • Clear and concise
  • Focused and to the point

How often do you use executive summaries? Do you have any additional tips?
