This question also got me thinking..\/(^ ^;)
Is success about the destination or the journey? hmm..for me, it is the journey..well for me I don't want to set a defined destination of my life..I know what I want but I don't want everything so planned out and predictable..I want to experience the success and failure of each moment..

and with the question..how would you know if you have achieved success..this is relative..people have their definition of success..but I guess you can tell that you have achieved success when you have seen how you and your faith or efforts affect other people's lives..how you created a difference..small or big..

You can’t have great success without great failures along the way! It’s recognizing those falls, standing back up, dusting yourself back off and having the courage, tenacity, and most importantly the motivation to look for the arrows in life leading you to the next destination and/or journey...That’s what success is to me!

Success is both the journey and the destination. Most of the time its all about the journey. Keeping a positive attitude towards your life, keeping a balanced life, being contented with what you have - that for me is success.

Hi All,

Success is a journey even if you have reached a destination in meeting your goals, what next!! Have to move on to other challenges, therefore success is a journey.

To sum up, success is leading a fulfilling balanced life and it does not end here, you need to keep at it , to sustain and improve the fulfiling balanced life.

Regards
Jaya

Hi All;

I think success should be about the journey AND the destination. It is important to have goals that drive you to the destination. For example, one of my goals was the produce my book. However, after my book was complete it was anti-climatic. This is why it is important that you guage success along the journey. You must enjoy what you do.

I left a full-time, secure job to set on my own and in July 2006, I celebrated three years of being self-employed. I don't have any employees and I work from a home-based office, but I measure success by the ability to choose who I work for and how many days vacation I want to take; in short, the freedom to make many of my own choices.

Mike,

Excellent question. This is something I've found very hard to define for myself.
Since starting my business eight years ago, I defined success by my bottom line. But this has never felt right -- mostly because most of us are never happy with our bottom line, no matter how good it is. After months of introspection, I am now defining success this way: "Living a balanced, happy, and financially secure life with my family."
